A little background on Valerie
I am a graduate assistant for MU Extension, providing Learning and Teaching Services support to instructors interested in offering online courses through the Extension Canvas platform.
I have a BS in Horticulture from Mizzou and have really put that degree to use. I started out as a floral designer in St Louis, working in smaller retail shops and as a design center manager for a wholesaler. I have worked for nurseries, landscapers and garden centers. We have had a small side business for almost 20 years where we teach managed beekeeping and various aspects of gardening. I worked for University System in Columbia in the procurement department, where I resolved issues concerning electronic payment cards.
I retired from the University when our grandson was born so I could help with his care and decided to work on my master's degree as a part-time "hobby". Our little hobby farm has a grape vineyard, raised gardens, fruit trees and acres of pollinator-friendly plants to keep us and the honey bees happy and healthy.
When I get involved with a project, I really get involved. I am the Past President of the Missouri State Beekeepers Association and on the steering committee for the Master Pollinator Steward Program.
